Time to get Nationalistic!!! (Map plus 10,11,12 ID's)
Hey folks, it is now the 1820's and everyone is getting their Nationalism on! As the Nation grows and expands you should understand the geography behind this change! So for Thursday (Sept. 30) you will have a map test. This test will ask you to identify the following:
1. All states east of the Mississippi
2. All the Great Lakes
3. Locations from the War of 1812 (Lake Champlain, Detroit, Montreal, St. Lawrence River, New Orleans, Baltimore, Washington D.C.)
4. Significant Rivers: Mississippi, Ohio, Missouri, Potomac
5. Louisiana Territory
6. Important cities: NYC, Boston, Philly, Richmond, Quebec
Along with that I have your ID's for the next 3 chapters! ID 10, 11, 12

Ch. 5 ID's
Hey APUSHers,
Here are the Ch. 5 ID's. As the board read in-class today you should take notes on every chapter you read in Tindall this year. As for ID lists they are to help you, there are ID's on each test from this list, they could also become quiz questions, and they can be a great guide to help you with your reading.....ie you should read the list before reading, then when you find the words/people make sure you understand their significance and then use the list as a nice review for yourself after reading. Anyway, we can talk more tomorrow during class. Here are the CH. 5 ID's.

Hello Summer Schoolers,
For your test review here are a few pieces of helpful advice:
1. On the Unit 4 Description Sheet study SKIP key questions A-D, and study the rest.
2. On the Unit 4 Description Sheet study only the second and third columns of ID's.
3. Review the Gettysburg Address and 2nd Inaugural Address by Lincoln.
4. Make sure you review the battle strategies of both the North and South.
5. Review the different plans for Reconstruction (Lincoln's, Johnson's, and the Radical Republican's).
Good luck studying and preparing for your debates.

Dr. Strangelove

Satire: Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity.
Dr. Strangelove is considered one of the finest satirical movies ever made. As you have seen it is a satire about some elements of the cold war and the US/Soviet response to different strategic realities of the nuclear age and 1950's circumstances.
Please identify 3 different topics that are satirized by Stanley Kubrick (director) in the movie. Please identify a scene and how it utilizes sarcasm, irony, or caustic wit to expose a specific real issue of the 1950/60's, in conclusion please explain the message that Kubrick is attempting to make about each topic.
Some possible topics you could look at; nuclear deterrence, MAD, pre-emption national security via nuclear arms build-up, cold war paranoia, civilian-military relations/control. (*You can use other topics if you prefer.)
This will be due the day after the movie is finished in class.
