Here is your 15 Test Point SATIRE assignment.
Satire: Irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose folly, vice, or stupidity.
Dr. Strangelove is considered one of the finest satirical movies ever made. As you have seen it is a satire about some elements of the cold war and the US/Soviet response to different strategic realities of the nuclear age and 1950's circumstances.
Please identify 3 different topics that are satirized by Stanley Kubrick (director) in the movie. Please identify a scene and how it utilizes sarcasm, irony, or caustic wit to expose a specific real issue of the 1950/60's, in conclusion please explain the message that Kubrick is attempting to make about each topic.
Some possible topics you could look at; nuclear deterrence, MAD, pre-emption national security via nuclear arms build-up, cold war paranoia, civilian-military relations/control. (*You can use other topics if you prefer.)
This will be due the day after the movie is finished in class.
